I have been a Certified Professional Virtual Assistant since graduating from the AssistU Virtual University in 2000. Before that, I worked as an Executive Secretary, Administrative Assistant, and Branch Administrator for various industries like printing machinery wholesaler, international financial consulting firm, chemical manufacturing plant, lawyer firms, banks, day spa salon, etc in the corporate world with top management.
So how did I become a Virtual Assistant? Well, after leaving the corporate world and moving to the United States, I encountered a crossroad in my life. I didn’t really want to continue working in the corporate world again much as I’ve enjoyed it and have gained some valuable experience from it. I still wanted to do what I love and am good at which is administrative work, but this time, doing it as my own boss. So I asked myself: “What job can I do that would give me the freedom to work from home, and yet continue to do what I love to do?”
While making up my mind, I signed up with a temp agency that sent me to work in the administrative field in various companies. At the same time, I also joined the local Chapter of IAAP (International Association of Administrative Professionals) and came to find out from a very good friend there about being a Virtual Assistant and how to get certified at AssistU.
The moment I heard about Virtual Assisting, everything clicked, and I knew that was exactly what I wanted to do. The next thing I know, I signed up for the course and got certified at AssistU, and the rest is history. Now I’m doing exactly what I want to do – working from my home office with awesome clients and providing the solution to their challenging administrative needs.
To this day, it still gives me great satisfaction in knowing that I have helped my clients with my vast administrative skills so that they can focus on working more efficiently and productively in building their business. Their time is too valuable to be wasted on time-consuming administrative tasks!
